In a small, modest home in rural Bangladesh, 8-year-old Abdullah lives a life filled with silent battles and unseen challenges. Suffering from Cerebral Palsy, Abdullah’s world is confined by physical limitations that make everyday tasks a struggle. While he can sit, he cannot walk or talk like other children his age. His speech is absent, and he doesn’t respond to the words of those around him.
Abdullah’s mother remembers how he used to crawl as a baby, a memory filled with hope for his growth. But as he grew older, his challenges became more evident. Today, Abdullah remains dependent on his family for even the simplest tasks. Mealtimes are particularly difficult; he often refuses food, causing his family great concern. Despite his struggles, Abdullah finds moments of joy playing with others at home and watching videos on his mother’s mobile phone, an activity that has become his favorite escape.
Abdullah’s mother speaks with a heavy heart about the family’s struggles. "We worry about him every day. He can’t do anything on his own and always needs support. It’s heartbreaking to see him like this, knowing we cannot afford the care he needs."
Their financial situation makes it impossible to take Abdullah to a specialized hospital where he could receive the advanced care and therapies that might help him lead a more independent life. While he has been seen by local doctors at the UHCD Foundation and given medication, it is not enough to address his complex needs.
