Fairoz Rahman Khan Rista, a 15-year-old boy with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), is a student in class five at a regular school. His journey has been marked by both achievements and challenges.
Rista’s Early Years
Before 2017, Rista was an active and happy child who found joy in music and dance. His family, then residing in Dhaka, ran a successful export-import business, ensuring a stable financial environment to support Rista’s needs, including his education and therapy.
Challenges Faced
After the family faced significant financial losses, they moved to their village home near Munshiganj. This transition brought unforeseen challenges. The lack of specialized care and therapy in the village led to a gradual deterioration in Rista’s condition. He developed a habit of biting and ingesting objects, with frequent tongue movements. These behaviors require constant supervision to ensure his safety.
Currently, Rista struggles to focus on his studies or complete tasks, and his family finds it increasingly difficult to afford the necessary medical care and therapies. Travel costs to seek treatment further strain their limited resources.
