Salatul is a 1 year and 7-month-old girl who lives with her mother and grandmother in Chapainawabganj, Bangladesh. She was diagnosed with Global Developmental Delay and Epilepsy at an early age, conditions that affect her ability to move freely and develop as expected. Her hands are stiff, her neck is not stable, and she cannot sit properly, spending most of her time either in bed or in her mother’s arms for support and comfort. Salatul depends on her mother for daily care, who is devotedly by her side, attending to her every need and ensuring she is as comfortable and secure as possible. Salatul's family faces financial hardships, making it difficult to afford essential developmental therapy and ongoing treatments. Her mother is the family’s primary caretaker, but her limited income only covers basic needs, leaving little room for medical expenses. Due to this constraint, they can only afford to visit a doctor once every 5 to 6 months, making it nearly impossible to provide regular therapy and necessary care for Salatul. Despite these challenges, Salatul is a gentle, resilient child, always comforted by her family’s love and support. Her family dreams of giving Salatul a brighter future, one where she can achieve greater independence and improve her quality of life.
