Lets meet with Mst. Mim Khatun.
In a quiet rural village in Bangladesh, seven-year-old Mim Khatun lives with an intellectual disability that sets her apart from other children her age. She cannot speak, struggles to express herself, and often exhibits unusual behavior. While other children in her village attend school, play with friends, and dream about the future, Mim faces a reality filled with challenges that make even the simplest daily tasks difficult.
Mim is one of six members of her family, including her two siblings. Her father, a hardworking farmer, toils day and night to provide for his family. Despite his dedication, his modest income is barely enough to meet their basic needs, let alone afford specialized care and treatment for Mim. Her mother, who lovingly tends to her every day, often feels helpless as she watches her daughter struggle without access to proper education or therapy.
Without the ability to communicate through words, Mim expresses herself in ways that are often misunderstood. She struggles to connect with others, and the isolation she experiences further deepens the challenges she faces. While her family does everything they can to support her, they know that professional care is essential to helping her thrive.
Fortunately, a ray of hope has emerged. Through the support of the UHCD Foundation, Mim has begun receiving medical assistance, giving her family renewed optimism for her future. This support has provided much-needed relief, but the journey is far from over. Mim still requires continuous therapy, education tailored to her needs, and access to medical care to help her live a healthier and more fulfilling life.
With your support, Mim can continue receiving the care she desperately needs. Every contribution—big or small—can make a difference in her life, giving her the opportunity to grow, learn, and experience the joy every child deserves.
