Lets meet with Shihab
Meet Shihab, a 17-year-and-5-month-old boy from Bangladesh whose life has been shaped by silent battles and quiet resilience.
From the moment he was born, Shihab’s journey was unlike that of other children. He suffered from convulsions and severe cold shortly after birth and did not cry like most newborns. His first real cry came only after being examined by a doctor.
As he grew, so did his challenges. He crawled at six months, learned to sit at one year, and began walking by one year and five months. Words didn’t come easily to him — he only started speaking at the age of three. But even those early steps toward development have now faded.
Today, Shihab cannot walk properly, nor can he speak. He has been diagnosed with multiple disabilities, including physical disability, intellectual disability, and speech delay. At the age of 3, his mother began noticing that he was different from other children. Doctors confirmed what she feared: Shihab is a child with special needs.
Despite their unconditional love and daily sacrifices, Shihab’s family struggles immensely. His father earns very little, and the financial burden of ongoing treatment and care is overwhelming. Every day is a fight — not just against Shihab’s health conditions, but also against poverty, worry, and uncertainty.
“We are heartbroken,” his mother says. “There are so many problems. On one side, we have his health needs, and on the other, the crushing financial strain. We are doing our best, but we need help.”
Right now, Shihab’s family is seeking assistance through the UHCD Foundation, hoping that compassionate hearts will come forward to help a child who never chose this path, but walks it with quiet courage.
Your support can help cover medical care, therapy, mobility assistance, and developmental treatment — everything Shihab needs to live with dignity and joy.
