Meet Aksara, a young girl with an indomitable spirit despite the immense challenges she faces every day. Living with cerebral palsy, Aksara struggles with multiple disabilities that significantly affect her daily life. She is unable to sit or hold her neck straight, and weakness in her right hand and leg makes even simple tasks, like feeding herself, impossible. Her condition also causes frequent drooling, adding to her difficulties. Shortly after her birth, Aksara experienced fever and seizures that left a lasting impact on her health and development. These early struggles have shaped her journey, but they have not dimmed the love and hope her family holds for her future. Aksara lives in a small, loving family of four, including her sibling. Her mother is her primary caregiver, devoting her entire life to ensuring Aksara’s comfort and care. Despite this dedication, the family’s financial limitations make it impossible to afford the advanced medical care and therapies that could greatly improve her quality of life. Currently, Aksara sees a doctor just once a year—a heartbreaking reality for a child who needs consistent and specialized treatment. Her grandmother takes her to the UHCD Foundation for periodic checkups, but even these visits cannot address all of Aksara’s needs. Her family dreams of a brighter future for Aksara, one where she can access regular therapy and advanced medical care that will help her gain strength and independence.
