Lets meet with Mst Sadia Khatun
This is Sadia Khatun, a 6-year-and-6-month-old girl from Bangladesh, whose young life has already been marked by pain, challenges, and resilience. Sadia suffers from a physical disability that affects her ability to walk and speak properly.
When Sadia was born, everything seemed fine at first. But her parents noticed that she didn’t cry much after birth. In fact, she only began crying after being seen by a doctor—and then she wouldn’t stop. What seemed like a small concern at the time slowly unfolded into something much more serious.
Day by day, Sadia began experiencing developmental delays. She crawled at 9 months, learned to sit at 1 year and 6 months, and only began walking at the age of 2. She started speaking at age 3, but even now, she struggles to walk or talk properly.
Her father recalls the moment their lives changed. “When she was about 6 months old, we started noticing that she was different. She wasn’t developing like other children. We went to the doctor, and they told us she was a special needs child.”
This diagnosis changed everything for the family. Sadia needs regular therapy, treatment, and professional care—but her father is a low-income earner, and the cost of proper treatment is far beyond their reach.
“We are struggling,” her father says. “On one side, there’s our financial hardship. On the other, the increasing cost of her care. I want to take her to a good hospital, see good doctors—but I simply can’t afford it.”
Despite everything, the family continues to hope—for a chance, for help, for healing. They have now turned to UHCD and compassionate supporters, seeking assistance so that Sadia can receive the treatment she needs.
